How to Unlink Your YouTube Account from Google Account

If you have a YouTube account wrongly linked to your Google account, you can actually unlink it. There are many reasons why you want to unlink your YouTube account from your Google account. For example, you have a personal YouTube account that accidentally linked to your work GMail account. To unlink the accounts, follow the steps below:

Go to this page: http://www.youtube.com/my_account_unlink
If you are not logged in, you’ll prompt for YouTube username and password. Enter the verification code too. If you are logged into YouTube, you’ll only need to fill in the verification code.
Next, click on “Unlink My Accounts”.
And your account is unlinked!

Another way to unlink your account:

Login into you YouTube account.
On the top right corner of the YouTube page, click on your username. Then select Account.
In you account page, click on Manage Account located on the left side of the page.
Click on “Unlink YouTube and Google Accounts” to expand the section. Then, click on the “Unlink YouTube and Google Accounts” link. This will bring you to the page mentioned above.

Do note that this only works for account created before May 2009. Accounts that created after May 2009 are the accounts that created using Google account. And also, YouTube will remind you to link your YouTube account with a Google account after you unlinked it. You can always relink to a Google account by accessing the following page:
http://www.youtube.com/finish_link_upgrade

HTTPS Access is now Default in GMail

The GMail team announced that the https connection will be used by default when you login into your Gmail account. This option is not new and is already exist since 2008. So, what is HTTPS? An excerpt from Gmail’s help:

HTTPS, or Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure, is a secure protocol that provides authenticated and encrypted communication.

It is good that Gmail enable it by default from now on. But there is a drawback, using https connection is slower that using the normal http connection. But for better privacy/security protection, I guess that it is better to use https connection.

Another new feature in Google! Just notice this when I was searching something using IE8. Can’t get it to work in Firefox though. :/

Breadcrumb in Google Search Result

I notice that breadcrumb navigation is now showing in the Google search result. It is quite random and not all search results have it. Maybe need some SOE. Better result discovery/navigation? What do you think?

Is this a new feature on YouTube? I only notice it in one of the video that I watched. It basically darken the background when you the the light down. Maybe it is easier for the viewer to focus on the video when the turn down the “lights”.
