1. Open the email app.

2. Click on the physical Menu button on your phone to bring up the menu. Select “Add account“.

3. In the Email Service Provider screen, select Others.

4. Enter your Yahoo! Mail address and password. Check the “Send email from this account by default option” if you want to send email using this account by default. You can click Next and let the mail app to detect the settings. But in this guide, I’ll set it up using the manual method. So, click on “Manual setup” button.

5. In the Incoming server settings screen, fill in your username (full email address) and password. The POP3 server is pop.mail.yahoo.com and the port is 995. For security type, select SSL.

Depending on your preference, you can either keep the email in the web or delete it after you downloaded the email into your phone.

Never – Never delete email in Yahoo! server. (You can still access it from Yahoo! Mail web)
When I delete from Inbox – Delete the email in Yahoo! server when you deleted it in your Android phone.
When I retrieve from Server – Delete the email in Yahoo! server after the email is downloaded into your phone. You won’t be able to view the email in the web anymore!

6.  Next, enter the details of the SMTP server. This is the server that you’ll use for sending emails. The SMTP server is smtp.mail.yahoo.com, port is 465, security type is SSL and check the Require sign-in checkbox. Then enter your username (full email address) and password. Click Next.

7. Select the options that fit your preference and click Next.

8. Give the account a name (this name will show in your Inbox) and the name you want to use when sending email. Then click done.

9. Now you can read your Yahoo! Mail using your Android smartphone!

1. First, login into your Yahoo! Mail account.
2. Then click on Options and select Mail Options. In the Mail Options menu, click on POP & Forwarding. You’ll see that you need to upgrade to Yahoo! Plus to get the POP and forwarding option.

3. Click on your username, and select Account.

4. In the Account Info page, go to the Account Settings section and click on Set language, site, time zone.

5. Next, select a Regional Site and Language and Time Zone. Select Yahoo! Asia and change the time zone to China (just to be safe). Then click I Accept.

6. Once you finish, logout from your Yahoo! account and close all browser windows. Reopen your browser, and login into Yahoo! Mail.
7. Go back to the Mail Options page (refer to step 2) and click on POP & Forwarding. Now you’ll see that you have the POP & Forwarding option enabled! Remember to select “Allow your Yahoo! Mail to be POPed” and save the changes!
8. Voila! Now you can use POP3 with your Yahoo! Mail account! The settings for the POP3 are as below:-

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Account Name/Username: <Your Yahoo! Mail address>
Email address: <Your Yahoo! Mail address>
Password: <Your Yahoo! Mail password>

Luckily, there is another option that you can use which is the Exchange account. To add it, follow the steps below:-

1. Open the App drawer and select Email.

2. If you have an existing email account, you see the screen below. If you don’t have an account, skip to step 4. Click on the Menu button on the phone to bring up the menu. Then select Account.

3. In the Account screen, click on the Menu button again and select Add Account.

4. You’ll see this screen if this is the first email account that you are adding. Select MS Exchange.

5. Fill in your Hotmail address and also the password. Then select Next. Check the “Send email from this account by default” if you want to send email using this email address.

6. In the next screen, fill in your Hotmail address in the domain\username field. Key in the password, and add the Hotmail server. The server is m.hotmail.com. Check the “Use Secure Connection (SSL)” option. Then select Next.

7. The system will try to connect to the email server. This will take a while.

8. Select the options that you want. The “Amount to synchronize” option is for you to select the amount of emails to synchronize. “Three days” option means it will only download the emails from last 3 days.

9. Give the new account a name, and you are done!

Some stuff that you need to take note of:
1. If you are not seeing any email, it is most likely because the emails are older than the period that you set in the “Amount to synchronize” option. (e.g. If the last email is 5 days ago and your option to synchronize is 3 days, you won’t see any email)
2. I’m using LG Optimus One (P500) and the screen might differ from yours.

1. Go to this page: http://www.youtube.com/my_account_unlink
2. If you are not logged in, you’ll prompt for YouTube username and password. Enter the verification code too. If you are logged into YouTube, you’ll only need to fill in the verification code.
   
3. Next, click on “Unlink My Accounts”.
4. And your account is unlinked!

Another way to unlink your account:

1. Login into you YouTube account.
2. On the top right corner of the YouTube page, click on your username. Then select Account.
   
3. In you account page, click on Manage Account located on the left side of the page.
   
4. Click on “Unlink YouTube and Google Accounts” to expand the section. Then, click on the “Unlink YouTube and Google Accounts” link. This will bring you to the page mentioned above.
   

Do note that this only works for account created before May 2009. Accounts that created after May 2009 are the accounts that created using Google account.  And also, YouTube will remind you to link your YouTube account with a Google account after you unlinked it. You can always relink to a Google account by accessing the following page:

One of the comments from my previous post on how to setup Yahoo! Mail in Outlook mentioned that his/her mails in her webmail were deleted after using POP3. This behavior is perfectly normal! But don’t worry, there is a way to fix this ‘problem’. Just follow the steps after the jump:

1. In Outlook menu bar, select Tools -> Account Settings.
2. Select the mail account and click on the “Change…” button on top.

   

3. In the Change E-mail Account windows, click on the “More Settings…” button.

   

4. Select the “Advance” tab.

   

5. Check “Leave a copy of messages on the server”. There are two more options at bottom that  you can check. You can either choose to delete the emails from the mail server after certain period of time or remove those permanently deleted emails.
   

And you are done! This guide should work for other emails provider that use POP3 as well. Please give your comment below!

This guide will teach you on how to setup your Yahoo! Main in Outlook 2007. First you need to enable POP3 in your Yahoo! Mail account. You can follow my guide here on how to enable POP3 in Yahoo! Mail.

* Please note that the mails in your web inbox will be deleted once they are downloaded to your Outlook. Please follow the guide here if you want to keep your mails in your web inbox.*

1. First, Go to Tools -> Account Settings.

2. Click on ‘New’.

3. Select ‘Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP’ and click Next.

4. Tick ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types’ and click Next.

5. Select ‘Internet E-mail’.

6. Fill in your account details.

Your Name: <Your display name in the email>
E-mail Address: <The email address that you are setting up>
Account type: <POP3>
Incoming mail server: <pop.mail.yahoo.com>
Outgoing mail server: <smtp.mail.yahoo.com>
User name: <Your Yahoo! Mail address>
Passowrd: <Your Yahoo! Mail password>

Once you’re done, click the ‘More Settings…’ button.

7. The ‘Internet Email Settings’ windows will pop up. Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab. Change the Incoming server (POP3) to 995. Tick the ‘This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)’. Then, change the ‘Outgoing server (SMTP) to 465 and Select ‘SSL’ in the drop down list.

8. Next, go to the ‘Outgoing Server’ tab and tick the ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’ option. Select ‘Use same settings as my incoming mail server’. Then click ‘OK’. 9. Click on the ‘Test Account Settings’ button.

You should be seeing the following screen if all the settings are correct:

10. Once you’re done, click ‘Next’. Congratulations! You just finish setting up your Yahoo! Mail in Microsoft Outlook 2007!

If you have large Inbox, it will take some time for Outlook to download all the mails.

If you want to close a program automatically at a specific time, you can use a scheduler to do it. For this guide, I’ll be using Splinterware’s System Scheduler. The reason why I choose System Scheduler is because it is easy to use/configure.

1. First, you need to create a BAT file. Open Notepad and paste the following code:

taskkill /IM mplayerc.exe

Change the “mplayerc.exe” to the name of the program that you wanted to closed. You can get it from the Task Manager.

2. Next, save it as “closed.bat”. Remember to put the double quotes in the filename.

3. Open System Scheduler and click on the “New Event” button.

4. Give the task a title and browse for the bat file you created earlier.

5. Go to the Schedule tab and select the Schedule Type. Then, fill the time and date you want to execute the task.

6. Click “Save and Exit”.

7. Done!

Step 1: Login into your web Yahoo! Mail. Click on your Display Name and select ‘Edit My Account‘

Step 2: You will see your account settings page. In the Member Information section, check the current settings for Preferred Content. If it is Yahoo! Asia, please skip to step 7. Else, click ‘Edit‘ on the Member Information section here.

Step 3: In the Member Details page, click on the current Preferred Content option. (ie: Yahoo! US)

Step 4: Change your current preferred content settings to Yahoo! Asia and click ‘Finished‘.

Step 5: Go through the TOS and click ‘I Accept‘. (If you decline the TOS, you cannot proceed further)

Step 6: Your preferred should be ‘Yahoo! Asia‘ now. Click the ‘Finished‘ button on the top right to save the settings.

Step 7: In your main mail box page, click on Options and select Mail Options.

Step 8: Click on POP & Forwarding. Click the ‘Set up or edit ‘POP & Forwarding‘ link.

Step 9: Select the Web & POP Access options. Change the other settings if necessary. Click Save.

And you are done! The settings for the POP3 and SMTP:

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Account Name/Username: <Your Yahoo! Mail address>
Email address: <Your Yahoo! Mail address>
Password: <Your Yahoo! Mail password>

There are two methods that you can use to setup your Hotmail account in Outlook 2007. The method that I’m showing in this post is by using the Outlook Connector. The Outlook Connector is a plugin for Outlook 2003 and 2007. The plugin will enable you to retrieve your mail from your Hotmail account using Outlook. Please note that this method will only work with Microsoft Office Outlook, and not Outlook Express!

Step 1: The first step that you need to do is to download the Outlook Connector from Microsoft website. You can get it here: Microsoft Office Outlook Connector (Choose the OutlookConnector.exe at the bottom of the page)

Step 2: After you downloaded the installer, run it and follow the steps in the wizard. It should be pretty straight forward.

Step 3: Once the installation is complete, open your Outlook. You should be able to see the “Outlook Connector” in your menu bar.

Step 4: Click on the “Outlook Connector” menu and select “Add New Account“

Step 5: You should be seeing the window in the screen shot above. Fill in your Hotmail/Windows Live email address and the password in the field provided. The name field is for you to specify the name you want to be displayed when you send an email. After you completed all the fields, click OK.

Step 6: After adding the email account, you need to restart Outlook. Once you restarted your Outlook, you can start using your Hotmail account using Outlook! It will take some time for Outlook to download all your emails to your PC, so please be patience.

The other method that you can use to download your mail to Outlook is by using POP3. I will post another guide for that. But, there are some other features that you can use if you use the Outlook Connector. These features are managing your contacts and calendar using Outlook! You can’t do that if you are using POP3. The disadvantage of using the Connector plugin is that it only works with Outlook and not other email client. And it is only compatible with Outlook 2003 and above. In my opinion, if you have Outlook installed, go ahead and use the connector. If not, you can still use the POP3 method.

1. Before we start scheduling the task, we need to create a batch file. This batch file will contain a command that will send windows into hibernate mode. Paste the following code in a notepad and save it as “hibernate.bat”. Make sure that the file type is “bat” and not “txt”.
   

   shutdown /h

2. First, open the Task Scheduler. It is located at Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Task Scheduler.


Click on the "Click Basic Task..."

3. After you open the Task Scheduler, click on the “Click Basic Task…” option located on the right side of the window.
   

   Fill in the name and description of the task

4. In the “Create Basic Task Wizard” windows, fill in the name and description of the task.


Select when you want to start the task

5. Select one of the method that you’ll want the scheduler to execute the task. For my case, I’ll select weekly since I want to execute my task on a weekly basis.


Select the start date of the task

6. On the next screen, the will be some options for you to select. This screen will be base on whatever you select on the previous screen. If you selected weekly, you can select the start date and time, how often the task recur and the days the task will be executed.


Select "Start a program"

7. Next, there will be 3 options that you can select. Since we are going to schedule the PC to hibernate, we select “Start a program”.


Browse for the batch script that we created earlier

8. On this screen, you need to select a program/script that you want to run by the scheduler. Select the batch file that we created earlier and click next.


Review the task

9. Review the details of the task and click Finish.
10. You are done! Now the task is scheduled and will execute on the time that you specified in the scheduler. This task will put you PC into hibernate mode on the scheduled time.
